S&B 2nd XI late flurry ensures another 3 points

This week S&B 2nd XI were up against Southend 3’s. The game started slow for both teams however Southend made a sudden break in the play and scored the first goal of the game just ten minutes in. The 2’s knew that a goal was needed in return so using the pre-game tactics, we set many strong and high presses keeping all the play in Southend’s D. S&B put up a constant fight for the next goal and 19 minutes in, Chloe King crossed a ball into Anna Tutton on the P spot and evened out the scoreboard. Wanting better than a draw the team kept brilliant possession for the last 15 minutes of the half but after about 10 consecutive short corners they still couldn’t take the lead.

After 20 minutes of it still being 1-1, S&B finally put away the third goal of the game, this fuelled the fire for the team as they went on to score another three goals in just 8 minutes. Lou van de Velde making her statement as a newfound forward scored the first!! And Chloe King made her hat-trick scoring another two goals just three minutes apart. The constant positivity from all the players made the win feel even better. With another three points awarded and a four-week winning streak the team walked away buzzing. A very well-deserved player of the match was awarded to Chloe King! Next week we are at home against Witham 2’s.
