This week was a big game for the twos. Up against Old Souths who we have been fighting for second in the table all season. This time we was at our home pitch and had plenty of support on the side. The game started off strong for both teams, with even possession and opportunities for both sides however after 10 minutes Old Souths made a break and scored the first goal. This only pushed the twos to make a comeback and play only improved from then on out, with strong and accurate passing and some excellent teamwork Emillie Burton scored S&Bs first goal just 8 minutes after. Now on even ground, the team kept working hard to get ahead, with some excellent defending and high presses for the next ten minutes, it finally paid off and Georgia Middleton put away the third goal of the game. With just 7 minutes left until half time, the team kept the quick pace up, and ensured no silly mistakes were made.
The twos continued the second half with just as much passion and strength, not slowing down just because we are up. Just 3 minutes in Chloe King ran the ball from the half way line and across the back line and despite the tight angle took the shot as she got into the D and gained us our two goal gap against the opposition. The game just kept getting better, possibly the best the twos have ever played! We had the majority of the possession however on the occasion that Old Souths did break the defence and keeper Denise had no issues clearing it. In the 54th minute S&B made a heavy push toward the goal and Neve Harrison from the top crossed the ball to the left post and Grace Wright finished it off with a mid-air hit in making it a comfortable 4-1. Still hungry for more the twos kept the incredible play up and Neve Harrison scored the final goal in the 60th minute.
Finishing the game at 5-1 meant we walked away with the three points and are even with Old Souths for second in the table. A well deserved POM went to Grace Wright!
