Southend & Benfleet 1st XI - 4 (Durban x2, Adele Cole, Ashlie Colman)
Wapping 4th XI - 0
Southend & Benfleet 1st XI were back to winning ways against Wapping 4th XI. In difficult rainy conditions, the home side dominated. Following a number of saved penalty corners, captain Kirsty Durban was first to score, roofing the ball into the net as the Wapping keeper hit the floor. Player of the match Durban scored yet again after a breakaway ball from Ashlie Colman into the bottom left corner to take S&B to 2-0 at half time. Not allowing this game to slip, Southend & Benfleet came out hard in the second half and were quickly awarded a penalty corner. Adele Cole injected to the top of the D and then ran to the left post to pick up a pass back from Durban, foiling the keeper to gain Cole’s first goal of this season. There was no stopping S&B after this and Ashlie Colman scored after a one-on-one with the keeper to take the final goal tally to 4-0.
S&B stay second in the Prem and travel to third place Chelmsford next week.
