Witham 1st XI 1
Southend & Benfleet 1st XI 3 (Ashlie Colman x3)
Southend & Benfleet gained a valuable three points away to Witham with a hat-trick from Ashlie Colman. Bottom of the table Witham were dangerous on the run and became the first to score, taking the Southend & Benfleet defence by surprise with a well-executed goal inside the right post. Southend & Benfleet had all the possession and their first goal came from Ashlie Colman. Nina Coleman as sweeper organized the S&B defence of Rachel Jeffery (player of the match), Jodie Linge and Kendall Colman, keeping the score level at half-time. In the second half Southend & Benfleet were awarded a penalty corner which Ashlie Colman struck from the top of the D and the away side celebrated as it hit the backboard. Team work and communication between S&B midfield players Nicola Bryant, Chloe Harris and Caitlin Meredith kept the pressure on Witham. Great passing between Ashlie Colman and Kirsty Durban saw Colman net her hat-trick. A fantastic team performance from Southend & Benfleet which means that it is now very close at the top of the premier table.
