Southend & Benfleet 1st XI 6 (Sarah Conway 2, Ashlie Colman 3, Kirsty Durban 1)
Wapping 3rd XI 0
Southend & Benfleet kept up their campaign to win the Essex Premier Division by smashing Wapping 3rd XI 6-0. The home side got the scoring started early following pressure in the D from captain Kirsty Durban and Ashlie Colman before Sarah Conway finished with a reverse stick flick into the left corner. Ashlie Colman soon scored before Sarah Conway bagged her brace, slamming a shot from a penalty corner past the keeper. Wapping didn’t give up however and the best keeper in the Premier division, Lisa Hawkins, had to pull out an amazing save to stop them scoring. The half-time score was 4-0 but S&B knew they could do better. The second half saw Wapping wilt under continued pressure from the home side as player of the match Rachel Jeffery decided she wasn’t going to let anyone get past her. Ashlie Colman got her hat-trick and Kirsty Durban bagged one for herself. A solid performance from top-of-the table Southend & Benfleet.
