The first team played away in a local derby game vs Southend 2’s. With five of the squad unavailable, Georgia Middleton, Chloe Chaldecott and Lily King were drafted in.
S&B got into their stride and soon dominated play. However it was stalemate until just before half time when Naomi Barker cracked the ball past Fran Bates to end up top right. However the celebrations were cut short as the goal was disallowed as dangerous.
S&B kept the pressure on in the second half but 6 minutes in Southend scored a breakaway goal and the home spectators roared. S&B however managed to bring the score back to level pegging 5 minutes later with a goal from Hollie Wakeman. Ten minutes later they scored again from a penalty corner. Player of the match Adele Cole passed to Georgia Middleton who fired the ball in. S&B were awarded another PC as the final whistle went and the score remained 2-1 to S&B. Another 3 points won and they hold onto their second place position behind Harwich & Dovercourt.
