Cole, Barker & Wakeling score in Waltham Forest trouncing

The 1’s were at home again against Waltham Forest. Remembering the tough game we had last time we played them, we were ready to take the game to them and put pressure on from the start. This worked well, with Naomi Barker scoring the first goal in open play after only 3 minutes. Waltham Forest had a couple of attacking chances which were seen off by Nina, Charley and Leanne with keeper Carmel only being needed once to make a crucial save. The forwards were running around and creating many chances, with the midfield ready to support in both attack and defence. The second of the half came from Lily Cole with her first of the game, followed by another from a short corner before half time. 3-0 up and the 1’s were going strong.
The second half saw much of the same, S&B ensuring they were always first to the ball and creating many chances, with the Waltham Forest keeper making some great saves to keep them in it. 10 minutes into the second half, Hollie got onto the end of a loose ball and calmly slipped it into the back of the net for S&Bs 4th. Following that, Naomi got her second from a rebound off the keeper, Lily got her hat trick after a fantastic solo run, followed by her 4th of the game which she smashed home at a very tight angle. The game was finished by a classic, clean Naomi strike in the corner. 8-0, 3 more points and clean sheet for the 1’s.
