S&B 1st XI start the New Year with a convincing win

S&B 1st XI played against unknown quantity Upminster 3’s in a game rearranged from December.

The 1st XI had trained well before the match but the restart after Christmas can be a tricky one. However Naomi Barker buried a ball after 8 mins to get the home team off to a good start. Upminster picked up the pace but any attacks were thwarted by POM Kerry Amos and the sturdy S&B defence with Nina Dabbs and Charley Edwards.
Half-time score remained 1-0 and Lily King came on as CF. Chloe Syvrett scored early on from a penalty corner. Buoyed up by a 2-0 lead, Hollie Wakeman scored with a sliding dive into right hand corner. GK Carmel Snyman dealt with a shot from Upminster which became wedged under her foot. The ensuing short corners were dealt with by S&B defence keeping their clean sheet. Lily Cole added a fourth goal to left hand corner to seal the deal with a 4-0 win.
