With a depleted first team squad, Bates, Rogers, Van De Veld and White step up to take on last year's top of the table rivals Harwich and Dovercourt.

Having won the toss, S&B take the first ball and dive straight into their first attacking play. Diagonal passing up the pitch to skip the Harwich defenders. Unable to find the goal, a series of open play followed for both teams each winning penalty corners but still a goalless game.

15 minutes in Van De Veld sends the ball up the line to Wakeman, making a leading run receives the ball and dribbles to the back line, strikes the ball towards goal, with a mix of Red and Black shirts in front of goal. Wakeman gets the golden touch to deflect the ball off a Harwich defender and into their own goal to get S&B on the score sheet.

For a short period S&B find themselves under attack but Rogers makes some sound saves to keep the opposition from scoring. The defence picking up the rebounds and sending the ball clear.

Midfielders Bates, King, Tutton and Van De Veld were a force to be reckoned with, making interlinking passes to dance round Harwich before firing balls to front line Wakeman and Taylor for more shots on goal.

21 minutes in, Wakeman again on the front foot in the Harwich D, with a defender on her right shoulder, in text book hockey style, with her back towards goal, Wakeman hit the ball in the bottom right corner of the goal leaving the keeper stunned.

Harwich make a brake for the S&B end, but Defenders Green, Edwards and Amos make easy work of clearing the ball for another S&B attack.

Just 6 minutes later a strong pass to Taylor camping in the Harwich end, she dribbled the ball effortlessly round the keeper, across the face of the goal before slapping it into the blackboard. Half time score 3-0.

Still dominating play, 39 minutes in S&B secure their fourth penalty corner. First shot saved by the GK, the ball lands at the feet of goal hungry Wakeman who sends the ball flying off for an unstoppable deflection into the top left corner to complete her hat trick.

Harwich try again to make it on the score sheet, but the S&B back line seemed unbreakable, clearing the ball again, maintaining possession in midfield.

48 minutes have passed, surely a win for S&B. A fireball from Middleton on the right, to Tutton open on the penalty spot, perfectly executed a slap hit ball through the keeper's legs to find the Harwich goal once more.

Harwich again making way towards the home team's goal, Amos wins the ball and finds space, giving the ball to King for a 1-2, before shelling the ball to Middleton on the right, on to Tutton who sends a powerful cross in front of the away team's goal to reach White's stick poised on the left post to surely ceal the win.

In the closing minutes, Harwich found themselves travelling towards S&Bs D finding a rare unattended player, who slotted the ball out of Rogers' reach. Final score 6-1 to S&B.
