Southend & Benfleet 1st XI - 0
Stepping out onto the same pitch as their England heroes, Southend & Benfleet 1st XI played top-of-the league East London 1st XI at the prestigious Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. With the temperature at 1 degree Celsius, the pitch was still in tip-top condition as the two teams battled it out in the snow. S&B strengthened their midfield with player of the match Ashlie Bolton dropping into the centre. Defenders Nina Colman and Jodie Linge were working hard to keep the East London team at bay but they scored in the first half. The second half saw a more determined effort from East London as they pushed to widen their lead. They were awarded for their efforts with goals from set plays to win 3-0. S&B Coach Adèle Cole said “East London have proved today why they’re top of the league”.
