Burnt Ash 1st XI - 3
Southend & Benfleet 1st XI - 4 (Ashlie Bolton 2, Kirsty Durban 2)
Southend & Benfleet 1st XI climbed even higher up the East League Division 2SE table as they played Burnt Ash away. Burnt Ash, having already secured their promotion, were confident of a win. But perhaps over confident as Southend & Benfleet went one goal up after a cross from captain Kirsty Durban was converted by Ashlie Bolton. This partnership produced a second goal for S&B as Bolton struck a penalty corner at the right post, Durban got a stick to it to send the ball flying into the top right hand corner. A clearly shaken Burnt Ash side retaliated with a goal to take the half-time score to 2-1. Five minutes into the second half Burnt Ash scored again. The Southend & Benfleet defence were put under pressure as they had to defend a number of short corners. But S&B mounted a counter attack which saw Bolton score her second, again from a cross from player of the match Durban. Durban then went on again to score from a penalty corner off a strike from Sarah Conway. Burnt Ash were still in it to win it and scored 5 minutes before full-time. However an elated S&B were the 4-3 winners and gratefully accepted another 3 points taking them mid table with one match to play.
