Havering 1st XI: 3
Southend & Benfleet 1st XI: 3 (Ashlie Bolton, Kendall Colman x2)
Southend & Benfleet played Havering away in an epic battle between the two Essex teams. Southend & Benfleet got off to a strong start but it was Havering who got the first goal. Undeterred, S&B continued to attack with new girl Karen Burgess finding her feet on the left wing. Kirsty Edmunds passed from the right to Ashlie Bolton, who scored the equaliser with a goal into the left corner. Lisa Hawkins was kept busy in goal but thwarted any further attacks by Havering. Half-time and S&B were in an ebullient mood. However it seemed that all was lost when Havering scored twice in quick succession and Kendall Colman was injured with a blow to the hand. 3-1 seemed like a huge mountain to climb. Colman had to stay on the pitch as the team had no substitutes. Staying up high in the attacking D the ball was played to Colman who received it, turned and swiftly played it past the keeper. In agony with what turned out to be a broken hand, Colman managed to score again with a one on one with the keeper. Five minutes to go and S&B clung on to a 3-3 draw to give them a well-earned point.
