

Southend & Benfleet played at Ashford and were thrilled to get their first point of the season. Ashford were the first to score after Southend & Benfleet had successfully defended a penalty corner. The home side managed to score from a side line ball. Southend & Benfleet stamped their mark on the second half, with player of the match Nina Dabbs pushing high as sweeper. Southend & Benfleet were awarded a number of penalty corners and it looked like time was running out. However in an exciting final two minutes Kirsty Durban ran the ball down the right wing to the penalty spot to find Georgia Durban who scored! On the whistle Southend & Benfleet had to defend a penalty corner but in a nail-biting finish they cleared it to keep a precious point!
