S&B 2’s went into the game against second placed Upminster 3’s with optimism after only losing out to a last minute winner when the two sides met earlier in the season.
In the first 10 minutes Upminster put S&B under pressure pinning them in their own half, however the defence stood firm and the next 10 minutes saw S&B turn the tables and dominate the play. Unfortunately, against the run of play, Upminster made a quick break and scored the first goal of the game. This was followed by an excellently taken goal from a deflected cross to take Upminster in at half-time with a 2 nil lead.

S&B were holding their own with Nina Dabbs stepping in front of the Upminster forwards to thwart their attacks along with Ella and Mya. Nic B, Lois and Jess marshalling midfield with some great passing play assisted by Neve and Amy down the wings. Lou, Isabelle and Chloe in the forward line working to find space against a fast defence were unlucky not to get on the scoresheet, but it was Upminster who scored a third 20 minutes before the final whistle. Some good saves from Captain Denise kept the score at 0-3, with chances also squandered in attack.

A disappointing result but a promising performance going into the weekend travelling to Brentwood 2’s in an important game to stay away from the bottom teams.
