S&B 4th XI unlucky not to get an away win

The fantastic 4’s played away at Maldon, somehow avoiding the torrential rain of the past few days. After a shaky few minutes at the start, the 4’s worked out quickly what was needed and attacked the Maldon goal, moving the ball up the pitch between the midfield. After a number of shots at goal, Katie E beat the Maldon keeper and hit the ball which bounced off the the inside of the post. As the ball rolled along the line Michelle H pounced and slotted the ball in the back of the net, making it 1-0 at half time to the away team.
S&B then continued to dominate the game, with the midfield moving the ball around assisted by Emily C and created numerous chances and were awarded many short corners but unfortunately the Maldon keeper kept the ball out and the away team couldn't score another goal. The Maldon team then pressed higher and took advantage of a loose ball in the away end with their strongest player running into the D and slamming a goal into the S&B net, narrowly beating keeper Lea, and slotting the ball through her legs. S&B threw everything into the game for the last 5 minutes and battered the Maldon D but couldn't score another for the win. A great game by everyone. POM was Katie A who stopped numerous attacks down the left side of the pitch, preventing the Maldon forwards from being able to cross the ball into the S&B D and distributed the ball across the pitch up to the midfield.
