S&B 4th XI too good for Witham 3’s

The Fantastic 4’s beat Witham away 4-1 in a very convincing win. S&B started strong and never stopped, in an amazing display of team work with the first goal coming after 6 minutes from Neve H after running the ball into the D and crossing it in. Everyone worked hard to create chances, getting to the ball first, and pushing forward as a unit. The second goal came from a cracking ball from Gemma Handley Samuels at left back, up to the forwards where Lexi H pounced on it beating the keeper to make it 2-0.
Witham then quickly came back taking advantage of a gap in the middle and scored their only goal of the match. That attack got the backs of the away team up who surged forward stacking the home D. S&B kept the pressure on with attacks up the left between Izzy M and Lucy P and great teamwork from the dream team of Neve H and Lexi H on the right. The pink and black army had a goal disallowed for an unknown reason but kept piling on the pressure nonetheless.
The second half started much the same as the first half with the away team attacking and putting pressure on the Witham defence. The Witham goalie stopped shot after shot with Lesley denied on the line a few times. After another great run up the pitch by the midfield who worked tirelessly, they found Lesley Tonking in the D who smashed the ball into the back of the net. 3-1.
Witham tried to come back and started to put pressure on the S&B defence who cut out most of the balls. Witham were then awarded several short corners but goalie Lea was determined not to let them score and saved some corking shots.
S&B were hungry for more goals and played the possession game, working the ball up the pitch battling that Witham goalie. Keeping possession and using her speed and skill Neve H, ran the ball up the right side of the pitch, round the Witham defence to calmly smack the ball across the D into the left corner ? 4-1. The away team then coolly kept possession for the last 5 minutes playing the ball around the pitch determined to deny the home team more goals.
An amazing display of hockey today, the team should be really proud as they worked as a team up and down the pitch, winning the ball, each and every player giving ?% showing how strong they have become since the start of the season when most of the team have never played together before or even played adult hockey before this season. Pure class!
