S&B 4th XI gain tough win against Basildon 4’s

S&B 4’s beat Basildon 4’s 2-1 away on a very wet and windy Saturday. The game allowed our juniors to show off their skills as a lot of the more experienced players stepped back for the game to allow our talented youngsters to shine, and they did.
The Fantastic 4’s started with youngster Millie T debuting as sweeper and she had a great game earning her joint player. Rising to the challenge she worked hard to cut out the lose balls. There was great linking play on the left between Lucy P who was also joint player and Izzy who danced round the Basildon midfield, creating lots of opportunities. The Fantastc 4’s dominated from the start with Lexi H and Neve H on the right attacking the Basildon D and being awarded several short corners. The away team were unable to take advantage of these due to the home goalie keeping the shots out, until Neve H ran the ball in and swept it across the D into the back of the goal. Emily C played in midfield this week, challenging the Basildon midfield working hard to stop the ball getting back and playing some great balls through to forwards Katie E and Michelle H.
The second half saw more torrential rain and wind and with Neve and Lexi unavailable, the Fantastic 4’s moved players around and again they pressed the Basildon defence with Izzy M cutting out so many balls and feeding them into the home D alongside Katie A. With a ball to the hand Millie T had to go off, and while the away team had to move things around with only 10 on pitch Basildon capitalised on the upheaval and scored. The Fantastc 4’s were determined to get another goal and pounced on every loose ball. A mighty ball from left back Anne up to forwards Michelle H and Katie E, saw Michelle H cross the ball in and Katie E tapped it in scoring to allow the Fantastic 4’s to take the lead again, 1-2. Despite S&B keeping the ball in the Basildon half they were unable to score again. A great display from many of our youngsters who showed how talented our youth are helping us win 2-1.
