The Fantastic Fours played Redbridge & Ilford in their first home game of the season. Redbridge & Ilford only have one team of experienced players so we knew this could be a tough game. First 15 minutes, Lea Martin, Angie Chambers, Megan Haylett, Izzy Mascall and Ingrid Logan were kept busy in defence. Once we settled into the game we got more possession and player of the match Sofia Dabbs linked well with Lucy Passey to attack down the left. Taking advantage of R&I not having a keeper, Michelle Heathcote took a strike that was saved by the defender’s foot on the line. A penalty flick was awarded which Lesley sent bottom left to make half-time score 1-0.
In the second half, Lexi Harrison made a great run up the right to cross in to Lesley to score with a reverse hit. This was followed by a third goal again from Lesley. 3-0 up, what a lead! Unfortunately for us, Redbridge & Ilford found their form and one player in particular stepped up with some amazing strikes and tomahawks and R&I levelled up to 3-3. However S&B didn’t give up with Sarah Fry, Katie Edgson and Millie Tebbutt putting in the effort to keep the ball in midfield. Lesley scored her 4th goal with another Lexi assist to put us ahead. However R&I were on a roll and scored again. Final score 4-4. Exciting game!
